Congkak

Realizing the importance of keeping the tradition alive, I decided to put Congkak as the third game for this blog. Congkak is a game for two. It consists of a board which has several kampung and two big rumah at every ends. It is normally played by the women, especially those from east (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines). The game is very simple and interesting. You just need, focus and strategic planning. The aim for this game is to collect as many marbles as you can, into your rumah. And so, without any further delay, let the game starts !

How to play :

1 ) Every kampung will consist of 7 marbles

2 ) Each player will start the game at the same time (simultaneously)

3 ) Each player has to put a marble in every kampung  and ends it in their own rumah
* For every kampung that you went through, if there are marbles in it, scoop them all and distribute them
in all kampung (round the board, clockwise)

4 ) If the player goes through their opponent's kampung, they are allowed to take
the marbles in it. However, the turn ends if one of the player ended up in a kampung with no marbles.
In order to start the turn again, the player then, needs to wait for their opponent's turn to end.

5 ) If you stop in your own kampung that has no marbles in it, your turn ends. However, you're considered to
be very lucky if the opposite kampung is filled with marble(s).
This is because, you are allowed to take them all.
The term for this is, BOM !

6 ) The game continues until all the marbles in every kampung are collected

7 ) The first round ends when one of the player has no more marbles on his side (in the kampung)

8 ) Play resumes in the second round with player redistributing the marbles in their own rumah
into their kampung. Every kampung MUST consist of 7 marbles. If there is no sufficient marbles to be placed in the kampung, the kampung(s) is/are left empty and are considered as 'burnt'
The rest of the marbles are then, deposited in his own rumah

9 ) For every 'burnt' kampung, you don't have to put marble in it. You should just, bypass it.
However, if you accidentally placed one, the marble goes directly to the opponent's rumah

10 ) The game continues until one of the players losses/burns all his kampung
or
he concedes defeat

This should be a help ;)

See how simple it is ?
Not only you can enjoy yourself,
you are actually appreciating your tradition more when
you play it. Keep an attitude of Gratitude ;)

So, moral of the story,
lets not only be healthy and fit,
lets be more appreciative !

Appreciate the game that you're playing,
you shall find more excitement within it.
Trust me ;))

Till then, see ya on the next post !

Tennis

Roger Federer

Rafael Nadal

Be it Australian Open or any Open, I just cannot keep my eyes off them. Not only that they are both, good looking, ahhemmm, it was more about their attitude during the play that I am attracted to. Federer shows a very high consistency and focus all throughout the game. Nadal on the other hand, sure is, one of the most determined person I've ever seen. Though the ball seems impossible, in which sometimes, I am 100% sure that no one can ever make a counterattack, surprise me not, he will run after it no matter what happens. And yes, he has prove that, he's able to make it.

Life, is like that too.To be a successful person, attitude plays an important role. Maintain your focus and be consistent in achieving what you've aimed in life, your goals. Grab all the opportunities that comes in way. More than that, you have to believe in yourself, You Gotta Believe. Napoleon Hill once said,

You can be anything you want to be,
if only you believe with sufficient conviction and act in accordance with your faith;
for whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve

Ouh okay, I think I've gone too far
Enough with the wisdom of life,
Let's find a racket and get cracking !  ;)

First and foremost,

What exactly do you need to play a tennis?
1. A tennis court
2. A racket
3. A pair of tennis shoes

The Court

1 ) Tennis court can be both, either indoor or outdoor
2 ) Tennis courts are usually made of composite materials (the hard courts)
However, there are also clay and grass courts

Singles vs Doubles

1 ) Singles Game : 1-o-1
2 ) Doubles Game : 2-o-2

Note that;  The doubles alley outlined by the double sidelines is considered as part of the
court when playing, but NOT while playing singles

The Basic Rules;

1 ) Typical match : Winning two out of three sets
Men's Draws : Winning three out of five sets

2 ) How to win a set ?
- A player has to win six games
- The winning player must win the game by at least two points
For example, if the points/ the scores are 6 to 4, the leading player has then, won the game
However, if the scores are 6 to 5, both players have to continue the game until
one of them wins by two points

3 ) How to win a point ?
For every ball that's considered as 'in', it is calculated like this;

0 (love)-15-30-40- A point

Hence, to obtained a point, you have to have '4 in balls'
If both players are tied (ex; 30 to 30) the score is announced as 30-all

4 ) A score tied ad 40-40 is known as deuce

How to win a deuce ?

a ) To win a deuce, a player must win two points in a row
b ) If the player (server) wins the deuce, it is announced as 'advantage-in'             or 'ad-in'
The serving player has thus, wins an advantage
c ) If the serving player loses the deuce point, it is announced as 'advantage-out' or 'ad-out'
Hence, the opposing player takes the advantage
d ) If the serving player wins the 'ad-out', the score returns to deuce

* If players are tied to 6-6 games in a set, a tie breaker shall be played
A tie breaker game is played at 7 points, and should be won by at least two

Beginning a game/ a set

1 ) The first serve of each game must always be launched from the right side/deuce/side of the server's court
2 ) If the serve is in, players continue hitting the ball, until a point is obtained
3 ) Players can move in/out of the court, but, shall never touched the net

Serving

1 ) A server must stand behind the baseline when serving
2 ) The foot cannot touches/passes the baseline, not until, the racket makes contact with the ball
3 ) The same player serves the ball for each point in a game and serves from alternate sides
of the court with each point

In/Out/Let

A serve can be considered as in/out/let

In : The ball must go over the net and landed in/on the boundary line of the service box, diagonally
the serving player

Out : The ball lands out of the opposite service box

Let : The ball hits the net before landing into the service box (which can be considered as in)
In this case, the server is given another chance to serve

However, if the player makes another let, it is then, called as double fault, and the player losses the point

And, that's all !
It may seems to be a little bit complicated and confusing,
but with enough practices and effort being put in,
then, nothing should be impossible ;)

till then,
stay fit,
stay healthy people !

Dodge Ball

Ever felt like punching or slapping someone right in their face ? However, though you wanted it so much to happen, you just know that your fist worth more than that.

“Anger is a killing thing: it kills the man who angers, for each rage leaves him less than he had been before - it takes something from him.” ( Louis L'Amour )

To drown yourself into anger and hatred is just what a fool would do. Shakespeare once said,
"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool"

So,
Instead of doing those uncool stuffs, why don't you turn to dodge ball !
Dodge ball would be the 'perfect' game for those in rage. Dodge ball holds a very simple principle which is,
'You aim, you shoot.' Hence, you might wanna replace your opponents face with the one you are feeling angry to. It'll really helps you to win the game, I promised that. But of course, put some limit. You don't wanna hurt anybody during the game, aite ? Other than reducing you anger or stress, just have some fun.

The do and The don't (s)

1. Divide yourself into 2 teams. A team shall consist of 5 people. However, a team might also have more or less than that. It depends on how many people are playing at that time.

2. Do not cheat. Cheating is intolerable. Oh common guys ! Be a man.

3. Do not throw at people's head.
Have mercy people, mercy.

4. Do not duck your head into the ball
Well, ain't that so silly ? Just don't do that, please.

5. Do not hit players on the ground
6. Do not sit on the ground
Err, what were you thinking ? Please, meditate yourself
anytime later

7. Once you are hit at any parts of your body, you're OUT !

8. If you catch the ball thrown at you, you may call a player back in on your side

9. Game ends when all players are out on one side

Also, here, I've included a video which would be very helpful,
I supposed. ;D

Tell me, ain't that so simple and fun ?
Just wait no more.
Go and grab the ball, people !

Till then,
stay fit, stay healthy ! ;)
